Bus drivers vote for strike

Issue No. 2363

Some 150 First South East and Midlands bus drivers have voted by 90 percent to strike in Worcestershire and Herefordshire.

The drivers have had their hours cut from 39 to 37. They now have to do the walk around checks of their buses in their own time.

They are members of the Unite union.

Action to defend union rep

Over 300 workers on East Midlands trains began an indefinite overtime ban and work to rule on Saturday of last week. They are members of the RMT union.

They are fighting bosses’ attempt to impose new conditions and the victimisation of union rep Ruth Strong.

Cleaners strike for pay

Train cleaners on the East Coast mainline working for ISS were set to strike on Friday of this week.

This is part of the cleaners’ longrunning campaign against low pay and poor conditions.

Ferry workers throw out pay offer

Workers on Orkney Ferries in the RMT union have rejected bosses’ latest below inflation pay offer.

They are also on indefinite overtime ban in a longrunning dispute over pay.
