Stansted struggle over grounded pay

Issue No. 2364

Baggage handlers at Stansted airport could walk out over the August bank holiday weekend.

They are members of the GMB union employed by Mitie. Some 39 of 41 workers are in the union.

Mitie claims to have offered a pay rise. But its low staffing levels mean workers put in lots of overtime—so bosses want to slash overtime rates.

Workers’ ballot result is expected on 12 August.
