Fast food workers strike over pay in the US

Issue No. 2364

Fast food workers in seven US cities struck for better pay and the right to join unions on Monday of this week.

Workers at Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Burger King, and KFC took part.

Strikers say poverty pay means they can’t afford transport to get to work or feed their families properly.

“Remaining silent is not an option,” said Kareem Starks, a McDonald’s worker in Brooklyn. “It’s nearly impossible to survive on $7.25 an hour.”
