Leicestershire school strikes to defend jobs

Issue No. 2370

Workers at Uplands school in Leicestershire struck on Wednesday of last week to defend jobs.

The walkout, by GMB and Unison union members, was against bosses’ plans to sack five teaching assistants.

Three teaching assistants have already lost their jobs.

NUT union members were set to join the action, but called off the plan.

GMB and Unison members struck three times last term against the job cuts.
