Workers could shut down oil supply

Issue No. 2372

More than 1,000 workers are being balloted for industrial action at the Grangemouth oil refinery near Falkirk, Scotland.

They are members of the Unite union. They hope to save senior shop steward Steve Deans from victimisation over the political scandal in Falkirk constituency Labour Party earlier this year.

The refinery supplies oil to all of Scotland and much of England and Northern Ireland—so workers there have a huge impact when they strike.
