Strike vote at Ineos oil refinery

Issue No. 2373

Workers at Grangemouth oil refinery have voted by more than 80 percent in favour of strikes against the victimisation of union rep Stephen Deans.

The workers are members of the Unite union employed by Ineos.

Stephen is under an investigation that could see him sacked.

It is supposedly over issues arising from the dispute inside Falkirk constituency Labour Party, of which Stephen is the chair. But both Labour and the police have cleared him of wrongdoing.

Grangemouth is the only oil refinery in Scotland. Strikes would cause massive disruption to fuel supplies across much of Britain.
