Network Rail last week announced plans to cut payroll cost for all management grades by 15 percent.
The firm told TSSA union reps that it aimed to achieve this by issuing notice to terminate contract letters by April next year.
Network Rail said it would accept requests for voluntary redundancies but would use compulsory redundancies where necessary.
This comes as a massive shock to Network Rail staff.
TSSA has called an emergency meeting of all Band 1-4 Network Rail representatives for Wednesday of this week.
It will urgently consider what action to take to confront these shocking cuts. The first consultation meeting with the company is set for Monday of next week.
