Stirling council pay dispute could escalate

Unison union members at Stirling council are promising to step up industrial action to defend pay and conditions.

Lorraine Thompson, branch secretary of Stirling Unison, said, “The combination of a 1.5 percent pay cut and the requirement to work an extra 7.5 days a year, actually amounts to a 4.5 percent pay cut for the majority.”

Some Unison members have been carrying out an overtime ban.

Unison and the other council unions are in discussions to begin “a unified campaign and a programme of industrial action”.
