Gap protest

LAST SATURDAY 20 people picketed the Gap store in the Metro centre in Gateshead, Tyneside. A sixth form student at the picket said, "I protested outside Gap because of their use of sweatshops and children to produce their products. The people making the goods should be given a fairer wage and decent working conditions." A picket of Gap in Sunderland is planned next month - for details phone 07790 438 807. ALEX SNOWDON, Tyneside
