AROUND 200 journalists at Express Newspapers in London and 30 in Scotland have voted to accept new contracts after the company was forced to agree better conditions. The London journalists had voted heavily for strikes. Management has now offered full recognition to the NUJ union, no compulsory redundancies and improved contract terms.
The chapel (union branch) has said that it will reconsider strikes if there is no progress on other issues being addressed by a working party. But a chapel spokesperson said, "We are very pleased with the outcome. Four out of five of our demands have been met absolutely."
