William Cook's

OVER 300 people joined the solidarity march for the locked out workers at William Cook's foundry in Sheffield on Saturday. "It was a marvellous turnout," said Eddy Grimes, one of the 90 AEEU union members who were locked out after taking official action.

"There were delegations from Federal Mougel in Glasgow and Willerby Caravans in Hull, as well as from Sheffield. There was no sign of the Labour Party. It's as if we don't exist. They are embarrassed by us during the election campaign. I'm really disappointed by them. We have abided by Labour's employment laws but our company has not. Labour should be backing us all the way. So should national AEEU leader Ken Jackson. The Socialist Alliance was on our march, though, along with other workers. We're appealing for support. We need financial assistance to keep this fight going. We are still going to be here after the election."

  • Send messages of support and cheques payable to William Cook's Strike Fund to 116 Richmond Park Crescent, Sheffield S13 8HG.
  • Locked out workers at Dynamex in North Wales are still picketing 24 hours a day. They are in the TGWU union and need support.
  • Send messages of support and donations to Barry Williams, 33 Llys Y Foel, Caernarfon, Gwynedd, North Wales.
