Mary Crofton

MARY CROFTON, a lifelong, well known socialist and fighter for Irish freedom, died unexpectedly last week after a short period in hospital. Though in her 80s, she was always fit and active. She was regularly to be seen at marches in support of socialist and particularly Irish causes. Mary was an inspirational and colourful character.

In her earlier years she was a nurse and trade unionist. She was previously an active Labour Party member before joining the Socialist Labour Party.

Mary was always happy to work with other socialists, and will be missed on a personal and political level by all who knew her. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
