THE BIGGEST advertiser in the country is not a giant multinational but the New Labour government.
It spent �16.4 million on advertising in February, more than corporations like Unilever and Procter & Gamble. New Labour spent �113.5 million in the year to March 2000 on adverts.
NURSES ARE leaving hospitals in Scotland in record numbers, driven out by poor pay, low morale and long working hours. Almost a fifth of Scotland's midwives and nurses have given up their jobs in the last three years, according to the UNISON union. A quarter of student nurses drop out of their courses because of poverty.
