'It's worse than Tories'

WORKERS IN Remploy from across the country joined a march in central London last Saturday demanding rights for disabled people. Remploy workers succeeded in stopping the government-aided company from closing down factories and sacking workers last year.

They were furious that New Labour has targeted disabled people for cutbacks. Ray Kirtley, a former miner, now a Remploy worker from Ashington in Northumberland, said, "Let's not mince our words, the government's been shit. They've treated disabled people worse than the Tories".

Claire Glassman was one of the disabled marchers who booed Margaret Hodge as she spoke at the rally. Claire was furious with the minister for attacking disabled people who need to claim benefits.
