UNIONS AND tenants organisations are working to make sure the future of council housing is at the centre of the general election. They plan rallies around the country to launch the "Tenants Manifesto". Meanwhile, in many areas local campaigns are putting election candidates on the spot over council housing by organising hustings.

  • Stand up for council housing, Tuesday 17 April, 7.30pm, Camden Town Hall, Judd Street, London (near King's Cross station/tube). Called by London region UNISON, London region GMB, UCATT executive council, Defend Council Housing, Daylight Robbery.
  • Tuesday 24 April, 7.30pm, Bradford Central Library.
  • Thursday 26 April, 7.30pm, Methodist Mission, Lord Street, Huddersfield.
