Asylum rights

AROUND 300 people demonstrated in Cambridge last Saturday calling for an end to all immigration detention, and marking the first anniversary of the opening of Oakington Immigration Detention Centre. The protest was called by Cambridge Against Refugee Detention.

Over 3,000 refugees, including children, have been imprisoned there in the last year under the government's new "fast track" processing system.

MANCHESTER Committee to Defend Asylum Seekers has called a demonstration on Saturday 31 March at 12 noon. Assemble All Saints, Oxford Road, Manchester.

Why Kent should welcome asylum seekers

This meeting will also launch the Natfhe Manifesto on Asylum Seekers. Wednesday 28 March, 5pm, Powell Lecture Theatre, Powell Building, Canterbury Christ Church University College, Canterbury, Kent.

All staff and students welcome.
