SOCIALIST Alliance supporters in Oxford picketed a �65 a head dinner where business people rubbed shoulders with top Labour MPs last week. John Lister, Socialist Alliance prospective parliamentary candidate for Oxford East, was one of the protesters outside. He said the dinner "speaks volumes about today's Labour Party and what it represents".


HOWARD Medwell has been selected to fight the Edmonton parliamentary seat in north London for the Socialist Alliance. He is a local teacher and campaigner against the expansion of a waste incinerator in Edmonton. Howard says, "For many years I gritted my teeth and voted Labour. But now I feel New Labour has become a party which openly appeals for the support of big business."

THIS WEEK Waltham Forest Socialist Alliance chose Sally Labern, a localparent and activist in the campaign against privatisation in education, as its prospective parliamentary candidate.
