Anti-Nazi

WITH ONLY 24 hours notice, 100 anti-racists gathered outside the Cock Tavern in Somers Town, north London, last week to prevent the Nazi National Front shutting the pub down "for good".

The NF announced its intentions after the pub was used for a meeting of the Real IRA. Members of the local Anti Nazi League went round schools, trade unions and community groups to build the picket. A local Labour councillor addressed the crowd.

The protest drowned out the handful of Nazis and was well received by local people. The NF was to come back again this week, but an even bigger protest was planned.
