  • NEATH AND Port Talbot college staff have won the pay rise owed to them thanks to direct action. Lecturers occupied the management "corridor" in the college recently and threatened to ballot for strike action. Management have now "found" the money, with the back pay to be in people's pay packets by Christmas.
  • LECTURERS AT Coventry Technical College were set to strike on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of this week over redundancies.

The college management plan to scrap one third of teaching posts on the Butts site-some 27 lecturers and 25 support staff.

  • LECTURERS AT the University of Northumbria have voted by 220 to 71 to take action short of a strike to defend jobs.
  • A HALF-day strike was to take place at Ripon College in North Yorkshire this week over redundancies.
