MERSEYRAIL GUARDS have voted to strike over workplace safety. Guards are angry that management is not doing enough to protect them against violent rail users. The RMT union says train guards suffered 70 attacks in the past three months alone. Guards voted by 95 percent to take strike action, the first of which is planned for Thursday 2 November, followed by strikes on the next two Thursdays.
