THE FIRST stage of the election for general secretaryship of the civil servants' PCS union was to finish at the end of this week. The left in the union was hoping that activist Mark Serwotka gained the required support of 50 PCS branches. If Mark does not succeed, the election is likely to be a contest between two right wingers, Barry Reamsbottom and Hugh Lanning.
