Student success

Over 1,500 students have already signed up to the Socialist Worker Student Society at the start of term and that's with another week of Freshers Fairs to go. Across the country we are getting reports of big and lively SWSS meetings.

Each branch of the Socialist Workers Party is being asked to ensure they sell at at least one workplace in their area. Workplace sales are going great guns. In Hackney 9 copies of Socialist Worker were sold at Clapton bus garage plus 7 to staff at Jubilee School and 6 at Homerton School.

In east London 16 papers were sold at Ford Dagenham and 4 at both Stratford DSS and Woodford post office. On Clydeside 10 were sold at Glacier Metals, 7 at Chivas Regal and 3 at Yarrow's shipyard. Elsewhere 6 papers were sold at Peugeot in Coventry and 5 at St James Hospital in Leeds.

111 papers were sold on Glasgow's Argyle Street on Saturday, 93 in Leeds, 77 in Edinburgh, 60 in Wakefield and 46 in Greenock. Walsall sold out of 26 papers. 7 people joined the Socialist Workers Party at the Hackney feedback conference on the Prague anti-IMF protest plus 2 at the Kingsland School victory rally; 2 joined in Salford and Leeds; 1 in Wanstead, Glasgow, Greenock, Edinburgh, Manchester University, UMIST, Moss Side, Southall, Westminster and Nottingham Sneinton.
