Toll of the dole
OVER 180,000 manufacturing jobs were lost in Labour's first three years of office, according to research presented on Monday by Tony Blair's favourite think tank, the Institute of Public Policy Research. It found that New Labour's record is worse than the last three years of the Tory government.
The report also found that unemployment has fallen more slowly over the last three years than between 1994 and 1997. Some 17.2 percent of all households in Britain have no one in paid employment.
