Rail lobby on inside track
STEVEN NORRIS, the Tory appointed by London mayor Ken Livingstone to his Transport for London board, has taken a job as a consultant to firms hoping to gain from the capital's transport plans. Norris has joined lobbying firm Citigate Westminster as a paid consultant. Citigate's clients include Anglia Railways, Virgin Rail, Thames Trains, First Great Western Trains, London and Continental Railways, National Express coaches, Docklands Light Railway and Connex Rail.
Norris, who is also chair of London's Capital CityBus company, denies there is a problem with his dual role. In his election manifesto Ken Livingstone pledged to ban lobbyists from the Greater London Authority. Sacking Norris would be a start.
