Public sector investment is collapsing
Labour spends half what the Tories did
No wonder our schools and NHS are falling apart
NEW LABOUR is investing less in Britain's crumbling schools, hospitals and transport system than even the last Tory government. That is the disgraceful state of affairs revealed by official government figures.
They show that money invested by the government on infrastructure projects such as school and hospital buildings, roads and rail fell by 32 percent last year. Government investment is now down to HALF that spent by the Tories in their last year of government.
But while our schools and hospitals literally fall apart, billions of pounds slosh round Gordon Brown's Treasury. And in Scotland a scandal erupted this week when it emerged that 135 million of last year's NHS money was not spent, and 34 million of that was "creamed off" by Labour for other schemes.
Dr Anna Glasier said it was "an insult to all the hard working, dedicated and underpaid staff, and an insult to patients".
