ON SATURDAY'S London demonstration in defence of asylum seekers 48 people registered for Marxism 2000 and 38 joined the Socialist Workers Party. 8 copies of Socialist Worker were sold last week outside Westbourne Park bus garage in west London, 15 at Phoenix Longbridge, 12 at Manchester Royal Infirmary, 23 at Riverside House council office in Woolwich, 7 at Oldham Road post office in Manchester, 5 at Penn Nyla textiles in Nottingham and 4 at Peel House in Eccles. On Clydeside 10 papers were sold at both Glacier Metals and Chivas Regal, 4 at Yarrow's Shipyard and 3 at Scottish Power in Cathcart.

In addition to those who joined on Saturday's demonstration 4 people joined the SWP in Norwich; 2 in Liverpool, Birmingham and Glasgow; 1 in Heaton in Newcastle, Leeds Harehills, Edinburgh, Brighton Lewes Road, Croydon, Deptford and Bristol.
