AROUND 200 workers at Vauxhall motors in Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, walked out on Thursday of last week because management wants to abolish the night shift, which will mean workers losing shift allowance payments. A worker at the plant says, "This is a big dispute. They want to go from three shifts to two shifts so at a stroke we will be losing 25 a week. "Vauxhall made 100 million profit last year. We don't see why we should take a big pay cut. "We're facing the usual company threats and propaganda but we're determined to stand up over this one. There's got to be a proper fight."
