THE DEFIANT ONES (1.45pm, Fri, C4). Great film from the 1950s about two escaped prisoners starring Tony Curtis and Sidney Poitier. Curtis's character is forced to confront his racism to flee the chain gang with a black fellow prisoner, played by Poitier. 

DA ALI G SHOW (10.30pm, Fri, C4). Jewish comedian Sacha Baron-Cohen becomes Ali G (right), the streetwise voice of the "yoof", in his own new show. Ali G has built a reputation sending up leading figures in authority. Will becoming widely known take the edge off Cohen's humour and turn Ali G into a stereotype? The six part series could decide the answer. 

POWER INTO ART (8pm, Sat, C4) is the behind the scenes story of the problems and rows during the building of the new Tate Gallery on London's old Bankside power station which opens in May. 

GREAT MILITARY BLUNDERS (8pm, Thurs, C4). The series ends with a debate about war leaders from the Boer War, the battle at Stalingrad and the Falklands.

EASY RIDER (12.20am, Sat, BBC1). Get your motor running... The infamous 1960s road movie following a group of bikers across the US.
