'Read our lips'
Blunkett lied about selection in schools
Straw lied about civil liberties
Dobson lied about NHS waiting lists
They've lied to us all
"WATCH MY lips: no selection either by examination or interview under a Labour government." That was what David Blunkett as shadow education secretary told the Labour Party conference in 1995. Now he says his words were "a joke". He is not in favour of getting rid of selection.
It must have also been a joke when Frank Dobson as health secretary said he would cut waiting lists, or when in opposition Jack Straw argued against scrapping trial by jury. It is certainly no joke to the millions of people whose lives have been betrayed by New Labour.
