  • THE CONFERENCE of the NUS Scotland student union last weekend was both left-leaning and largely in agreement. It struck out against both homophobia and racist bigotry. There was anger at the contemptuous dismissal of the Cubie report on tuition fees by the Labour-Liberal coalition in the Scottish Parliament.
  • STUDENTS AT Leeds University are campaigning for the sacking of an openly racist lecturer in the Russian department, Frank Ellis, who is going to the US to speak at a conference alongside Nazis and white supremacists.
  • STUDENTS AT Sussex University protested last week in defence of seven students being disciplined for protesting against Cherie Blair when she visited the college.
  • TONY BLAIR was met with a 100-strong student protest in Coventry last Friday.
