  • OVER 500 people marched through Huddersfield last Saturday in a fight against a Private Finance Initiative scheme which threatens vital services at the local hospital. Over 50,000 local people have signed a protest petition.
  • SOME 300 PEOPLE joined an angry lobby of Salford's Labour council on Tuesday of last week in protests against a �13.1 million cuts package. This followed a 150-strong protest the previous week. Now council workers are balloting on three days of strikes.
  • OVER 200 home helps in Derbyshire marched through Ripley last Saturday. The New Labour council wants to introduce an electronic timesheet system. The workers feel they have no choice but to step up the action to force the council to back down.
