Time to break with Blair

Stand for a socialist alternative

NEW LABOUR leaders have spent weeks saying it is wrong for Ken Livingstone to stand against the Labour Party machine, and wrong for people to support him. Yet Livingstone got the votes of three times as many Labour Party members and trade unionists in London as Blair's candidate, Frank Dobson.

Socialist Worker believes Livingstone should stand against Dobson. He should campaign for the socialist policies, such as renationalisation of the railways, which most people support. This is an issue for everyone in Britain, not just in London.

Do we allow Blair to continue blackmailing us while he indulges every whim of big business? Or do we build a fighting socialist challenge to the Tory policies New Labour is ramming through? It's time to break with Blair and take up the socialist policies he has dumped.
