GRAND CANYON (Sun, 12.25am, BBC1) is a good film which exposes the emptiness of the American Dream. 

JOHN LENNON-GIMME SOME TRUTH (Sun, 11.30pm, BBC2) looks at one of rock's most influential singers. 

VALMONT (Tues, 11.50pm, BBC1) is a French film based on Chanderos Laclos's novel Dangerous Liaisons, set in the run up to the 1789 French Revolution. 

THE TRIALS OF OSCAR WILDE (Wed, 1.05pm, C4). A timely showing of this great movie after the rows about Section 28. The film shows the lengths to which the British establishment went to persecute gay playwright Oscar Wilde.
