SUPPORT IS growing for 11 east London firefighters suspended on New Year's Day. The 11 firefighters at Homerton station defended a Fire Brigades Union policy against pre-arranged overtime. Firefighters at Islington, Dowgate and Tottenham stations have backed a call by the London region of the FBU for strikes if disciplinary action is not dropped. Firefighters in the Eastern Command Group of stations, of which Homerton is part, plan a day of action for next Monday. London firefighters and trade unionists near Homerton are also building for a demonstration on Friday 4 February.
