pcs union members in the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (EFRA) department and the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) were set to strike for a day on Friday of this week.

This is over Tory plans to privatise and off shore the work carried out by Shared Services which also deals with personnel issues in DWP, the Environment Agency and Business, Innovation and Skills.

The DWP Group Executive sought the support of the union’s disputes committee to ballot members immediately affected for strikes. The plan is to escalate the action to department-wide strikes.
