Israeli jets bombed a base near Latakia in Syria on Thursday of last week. Israel claims it is targeting Russian-made missiles being supplied by Bashar al-Assad’s regime to Hizbollah in Lebanon.
This is believed to be the sixth time that Israel has bombed Syria this year. Assad said he would respond to any such attacks with military force, but has not commented or taken any action to date.
Activists in Syria say there has been a total news blackout about the attacks. More than 100,000 people have died in Assad’s attempts to crush a rebellion since 2011.
