Jon Rogers’ campaign for Unison general secretary has received a boost with the votes of Oxford Health branch and Oxford City branch to nominate him.
Jon is now backed by 21 branches of the union.
He needs a total of 25 nominations by Friday 10 December to secure a place on the ballot paper. Unison’s London region voted to back him last month.
“More than two thirds of branches didn’t even make a nomination last time,” says Jon. “Unison activists need to raise the issue in their branches and chase it up.
“It’s important to find out whether your branch has made a decision and, if it hasn’t, find out when it’s going to decide.”
Jon Rogers is the Unison United Left candidate for the general secretary elections.
He is standing on a platform of defending pensions, stopping privatisation and clear opposition to the occupation of Iraq.
