Politicians are the problem, not migrants

Issue No. 2380

Scapegoating immigrants unites the mainstream political parties.

The latest panic over Roma has given politicians yet another chance to “say the unsayable”—that almost constant refrain that immigrants are a problem.

So former Labour home secretary Jack Straw said Labour made a “spectacular mistake” in allowing migrants from eastern Europe to come to Britain.

It follows Ed Miliband’s regular speeches claiming that migrants take jobs from British-born workers.

Miliband has promised to cut the number of migrants coming to Britain if Labour is elected in 2015.
