Afghan prime minister Hamid Karzai delays US occupation plans

 Afghan prime minister Hamid Karzai has delayed signing a deal allowing the US to keep 15,000 occupying troops in Afghanistan for another decade.

Western leaders have declared that the 12-year Western occupation of Afghanistan will end in 2014, leaving some troops to train the Afghan military. 

But the scale of US plans shows they want to retain a military foothold in the region.
