Progress on the ‘3 Cosas’ for University of London cleaners

Issue No. 2382

Cleaners at University of London working for Balfour Beatty have been offered improved sick pay and up to 33 days holiday after three years after their two day strike last week.

The cleaners’ campaign for “3 Cosas” demands three things—equality with the university’s inhouse staff on sick pay, holiday pay and pensions. They also want vacancies to be given to 30 workers at Garden Hall student accommodation who face losing their jobs.

The cleaners are members of the IWGB union, having broken away from Unison.

The cleaners met on Monday of this week and are considering more strikes.
