Save Barnsley Central Library campaign

Issue No. 2382

Some 50 people demonstrated in Barnsley town centre on Monday of last week against plans to close the Central Library.

Protesters then lobbied a full council meeting.

Some 100 people came to a meeting to save Barnsley Central Library the weekend before. The meeting was addressed by Ian McMillan, the local poet and writer.

Momentum is clearly picking up to save the library—the campaign petition now has over 8,000 signatures. We have rattled the council, we need more protests and we can force them to retreat.
