Disabled activists call protests against Atos

by Dave Sewell
Issue No. 2387

Disabled activists have called for protests at Atos Healthcare centres around Britain on 19 February.

Atos puts disabled people through Work Capability Assessments on behalf of the government.

Being found fit to work by Atos can mean losing disability benefits such as Employment Support Allowance that many people rely on.

Thousands of people have died of their conditions or committed suicide after being found fit for work by Atos.

The day of protests is backed by groups including Disabled People Against Cuts, Black Triangle, Atos Miracles, National Union of Students and Benefit Justice Federation.
