Striking cleaners picketed at London’s Paddington station on the last day of a solid three-day strike on Tuesday of this week.

The workers are members of the RMT union working for sub?contractors Mitie on First Great Western trains.

One striker told Socialist Worker, “We want Mitie to pay us the London Living Wage of £8.80 an hour. They are very profitable and they can afford it.”

Workers rejected an offer from bosses of a 5 percent increase in pay this year, and 5 percent next year. As another striker put it,

“5 percent of the minimum wage is not enough.

“We want a living wage.”
