Issue No. 2387

Over 5,000 mainly Indonesian domestic workers chanted, “We are workers not slaves,” as they demonstrated in central Hong Kong on Sunday of last week.

Many work in private homes and are forced to live with their employers. They are fighting for employment rights and better conditions

Many wore headbands that read, “Justice for Erwiana,” after Erwiana Sulistyaningsih, a maid who was brutally beaten by her employer.
