Strike ballot for Torquay post workers

Issue No. 2388

Some 100 post workers in Torquay are set to be balloted for strikes after a colleague was sacked just before Christmas.

The worker had worked in the post for more than ten years. He was sacked after the hand brake in his van failed, causing it to crash into a bike shed and cause minor damage to a headlight.

His workmates are furious with his sacking.

Luke Mason, CWU branch secretary said, “I have never seen such a show of solidarity.”
