Day of action against Atos

Issue No. 2391

More than 100 protests against Atos Healthcare were set to take place around Britain on Wednesday of this week.

Atos carries out Work Capability Assessments on behalf of the government. It decides if disability benefit claimants are really “fit for work”—and can have their benefits removed.

The assessments have come under fire from doctors’ organisations, MPs and campaigners.

Atos and work programme contractors Seetec are still sending letters to Sheila Holt in Rochdale—almost two months after she fell into a coma.

Sheila’s family blame the stress caused by companies “threatening to take her money away” for her poor health.
