Nurses in Doncaster vote for seven-day strike

Issue No. 2391

Nurses at a supported living service in Doncaster have voted for a seven-day strike against attacks on their pay and conditions.

The Unison union members voted by 96 percent for the action.

Private firm Care UK has recently taken over the service.

It wants to impose changes that would slash monthly pay by an average of £500 and cut their annual leave.

Some 150 GMB union members at Ealing Hospital in west London were set to begin a 48-hour strike on Wednesday of this week.

The workers, who are employed by Compass Medirest, are demanding a pay rise.
