Workers to strike for a reel pay rise

Issue No. 2392

Twelve assembly line workers struck for better pay at the Daiwa Sports fishing rod factory in Lanarkshire on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

The workers—all women—are members of the Unite union. They are currently paid just £6.72 an hour, and rejected a below-inflation raise of 1.5 percent.
