Soas cleaners set to strike back again

Issue No. 2395

Cleaners at London’s School of Oriental and African Studies (Soas) were set to strike on Friday of this week.

They are demanding the same sick pay, holidays and pensions as other Soas workers receive.

They held a solid 48-hour strike at the beginning of this month and received huge solidarity from trade unionists and students.

The Unison union members work for outsourcing giant ISS. It has so far refused to meet their demands.

Soas management has faced mounting pressure to directly employ the outsourced cleaners.

Almost 50 cleaners and supporters held a protest on Monday of this week to coincide with a management open day.
