Production workers at Bombardier are on strike against bosses’ attempts to force them to work 70 percent of their shifts at night time.

The Unite members at Bombardier’s Central Rivers depot near Burton Upon Trent say the new shifts will cause massive disruption to their family lives.

They walked out for 14 days on Wednesday of last week following other action including an overtime ban.

The action will cause significant disruption to the repairs, maintenance and servicing of Virgin and CrossCountry trains.

Unite regional officer Mick Stevens said, “The workforce is understandably furious that Bombardier is imposing more night work on them”.
